Dear Parents,
We have had tons of fun this week with our Dead Word Funeral, Trick or Treating, candy donations, and poetry. CCES students donated 321.6 pounds of candy to Mobile Loaves and Fishes. Fourth graders donated the most with 79 pounds! We are blessed to have such generous students at Canyon Creek. We are looking forward to Coffee House Poetry on December 2 at 8:30 am.
Please notify the main office for changes in departures or messages for your child. I check email prior to
7 am and many times I do not get another chance to look at emails until after car duty is over. The office will send a notification pink slip to your child.
No Spelling or reading log this coming week.
Mentor Poems: Students are required to memorize and recite a mentor poem for Coffee House Poetry. The poem selection is due Monday, November 7th. The poem should be no less than 16 lines long (healthy lines- not two word lines). The poem MUST be approved by me on Monday. This poem will be included in the poetry book your child is making. Once the poem is approved by me, students will type the poem and illustrate with a border for homework. An example is shown above. This poem is due on Friday.
Rock painting: Please send a flat, smooth rock about the size of your palm to school by Wednesday. I have included a photo above.
Have a wonderful fall weekend,
Mary Jo
