It has been a fantastic first week of school. Getting to know my students, making each child feel comfortable, and helping students establish new friendships are my top priorities! Building classroom expectations and routines help ensure a smooth, successful year.
Homeroom Parent: Ms. Serra Byrne has graciously offered to be our HR Parent this year. If you would like to join her, please let me know.
Arrivals: When students arrive at school, they can enter the building as early as 7:20 a.m. Morning work begins promptly at 7:20 am with announcements starting at 7:40 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 7:40 a.m., and students must be present at this time. Any student arriving after 7:40 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy slip.
Snack anyone? We will have snacks right after recess at 10:35 a.m. Please help your child choose a healthy snack to bring to class each day. We also welcome students to bring a water bottle. On days when we have inclement weather or the heat index is too high, we will have a break in our day for indoor recess. The safety of our children is foremost in our minds.
Prize Box: Students win table points for good behavior and following directions. I have a prize box that is empty! Please consider buying...seasonal items, crafts, mechanical pencils, journals, flavored lip balm, erasers, ect. Dollar store items are great. Thank you in advance.
Birthday Parties: If desired, parents are able to purchase frozen yogurt, frozen fruit bars or cookies through the school cafeteria for an entire class. Arrangements for birthday items should be made through the cafeteria prior to the occasion to ensure sufficient quantities are available. So we do not have hurt feelings, please do not distribute birthday invitations during school hours.
Parent Meeting: Back to School Night will be Tuesday, September 13 at 7:00 pm. This is a very important informational meeting for parents and for that reason we ask you to make arrangements for childcare. We look forward to seeing you there.
Multiplication Math Facts: Students should be able to recall all multiplication facts through 10 X 10 with instant recall. Mastery of these facts are essential as fact recall is a cornerstone of our curriculum! Please work on this skill at home if your child does not know their facts.
Word of the Month: Responsibility! Students will get a sticker if they are spotted being responsible. Responsible students come to school on time, they do their work, and they follow school rules.
From Mrs. Crawford: Our number one priority is the safety of our students. We do our best to create a safe and efficient plan to dismiss our students. Parents should make every effort to formulate a plan to meet their child outside the building after school. If your plans change, please notify the office as soon as possible, so our office staff can notify the teacher. Teachers are not always able to check email or voicemail during the day, so please call the office if we need to get a change of dismissal notice to your child. The procedures for arrival and dismissal were given in the Welcome Walk packet.
