The week sure has flown by! I can't believe we are looking at Thanksgiving coming around the corner. A big thank you to all our homeroom moms for having met last week to hash out the year's activities. We sure to appreciate all their hard work! I'm sure you will be hearing from them soon about volunteering opportunities and upcoming activities.
Mentor Poem:
The mentor poem is due no later than first thing Monday morning, November 9th. Please help your child by checking for the following criteria: Title of poem, poem is typed by them, author is given, and a significant border is present that reflects the main ideas of the poem Based on previous experience, your child may need help adjusting the margins so the poem is more toward the middle of the page so a border will nicely frame the poem.
Homework:
Homework has changed slightly this week and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. We feel that if we give the students more homework in one area then we need to adjust accordingly. Again this week, your child will not have spelling homework or reading log homework. We are expecting they will be working on any typing and illustrating of their personal poems if they do not complete them in class, writing Night Writes, and logging in to IXL.
**A biography assignment will be given on Monday, November 9th. Students will have until November 12th to have a biography book and person of study approved by me.
Units of Study:
Math: Fractions and place value to the billions
Language Arts: Creating original poetry by studying the structure of poems and study the elements of mentor poetry.
Science: Weather
** No spelling or reading log due to poetry unit and Night Writes
