Long Weekend

8/31/2016

Dear Parents,
It has been another learning week in 4th grade.  Students are acclimated to the new school schedule and rigor of the day. We have been working so hard that we deserve a day off !!  No school on Monday for Labor Day.

Reading Responses:
Each week your child will complete a Reading Response.  This can be found in the Homework Folder.  If your child has a busy weeknight, please complete a night's reading on a weekend night.  We do expect students to read a minimum of 20 minutes per night.  Only 4 responses are required per week.  Please sign the back of the white homework response page for each day of reading. The yellow page is to help guide your student when writing their responses.

HR Parent:
A big thank you to Ms. Serra-Byrne for volunteering to be our HR Mom this year.  She will need to contact you during the school year about parties and events.  I will assume that it will be okay for her to have your email unless you let me know.  She will only use your email for class business.

 From the Counselor:
September is here and it is time to kick off our FIRST character word of the month! Our character word for September is RESPONSIBILITY!!  Responsibility means that you do what you are supposed to do, without being asked. In school, you sit in your seat, you raise your hand, you do your classwork--without being asked!  At home, you help with chores, you do your homework, you get ready in the morning--without being asked!  In September, if your teacher sees you being responsible, then you will get a sticker to wear all day so that other students will know that you demonstrated our Character Word of the Month!  And thank you parents for supporting the Character Counts program by reinforcing our word of the month at home!!

Have a wonderful three day weekend,
Mary Jo
