Hope you all enjoyed our “snow day” on Thursday spending quality time with family!
Our fabulous 4th graders did a fantastic job proudly presenting their expository piece to the class this week! Their creative compositions are being displayed in the 4th grade hall for everyone to enjoy. We can definitely see how they are becoming life-long writers and amazing illustrators! March is definitely going to an exciting time in fourth grade with our Cruise Write Along coming up as well as spring break!
CRUISE WRITE ALONG:
The fourth grade classes are preparing for the upcoming Writing STAAR test and setting sail on our Cruise Write Along during the week of March 23-27, 2015, and we need your help!
During the week of Cruise Write Along, the students will be venturing into a series of fun activities. They will learn exciting new cruise songs, rhythms, and techniques to improve their writing compositions.
In order to make this a memorable experience, we will be transforming our classrooms into a cruise ship/beach theme. We need beach items such as floats (already blown up), towels, low sitting beach chairs, and anything that would make our classrooms feel like we are going on a cruise. If you are able to lend us any of these items, please send them to school by next Thursday, March 12th. Please make sure that each item is labeled so that we may return it to the rightful owners. Also, I still need a few parent volunteers to help set up our classroom Thursday afternoon at 2:45. If you are able to help, send me an email to let me know that you are coming. Thank you Ms. Vessa, Ms. Forshay, and Ms. Wyrick for already volunteering.
Each day, your child may wear:
Monday, March 23: Hat Day
Tuesday, March 24: Sunglasses Day
Wednesday, March 25: Flip Flop Day
Thursday, March 26: Lunch with the Captain-Dress nicely
Evening activities will include nightly “Life Boat Drills” (Revising and Editing Practice Booklet). Students are required to complete a page per night. There will not be a spelling list or spelling homework assigned for this week.
We look forward to having a fantastic learning adventure with our Cruise Write Along excursion. Thank you for your continued support, and a huge thank you to our Room Moms who will be delivering delicious snacks during “cabana time”!
