I am pleased that so many students have signed up for Art Camp. Our mosaics are going to be beautiful! Our last class in on April 25. I look forward to seeing many students the next few Mondays. Thank you for amending your day so your child can participate.
If you or your family volunteered for the Family Fun Fest or you came out and supported CCE in any capacity - THANK YOU! Rumor has it, FFF was a huge success! I enjoyed seeing our CCE family at this event.
What a week! It really has flown by! Your kiddos did a fabulous job presenting their Texas Critters project! The hot air balloon launch was quite a highlight as well.
Texas Day Supplies:
We are in desperate need of 6oz glass baby food jars. I have a pantry full of plastic ones!! Each student will participate in an activity where they will need one of these jars. Please send in one jar, or more if you like ;) , with your child by April 22nd so we have time to wash and sterilize them all. Thank you so much for your support. It is GREATLY appreciated!!
Reading Homework:
Please have your child read a minimum of 20 minutes each evening. This helps with stamina for longer passages. We will not have a reading log this week, but reading assignments not completed during class time will need to be completed at home. During our Newbery book study, students will need to complete each day's work to be ready for discussions. Daily completion of activities and reading is a must.
A Note from Mrs. Preston....
Dear Families,
Word is slowly getting out about my retirement at the end of this school year. I wanted for you to hear this news from me first. I have had an incredible 30 years of teaching and I will miss it dearly.
I began my teaching career at a private school in 1986 with a precious group of first grade students. The next year I was hired to teach 4th grade at Anderson Mill Elementary. After taking a year off to spend with my first child, I was hired to teach art at Laurel Mountain Elementary. I served in that position for 10 years and this rounds out my 18th year at Canyon Creek. Retiring from a 30 year career is not easy as there are many emotions tied to it. I am humbled to have worked with a most talented staff and I adore my students. I have loved planting those creative seeds with my young budding artists. My husband and I are planning a move to Kerrville where the pace of life is a bit slower! I wish all of my Canyon Creek families the best as I move toward the next chapter.
Cheers,
Sharon Preston
