It was a full week of learning! In science, we learned about weather prediction and how a wind sock can help us determine wind direction. In math, we learned about points, lines, line segments, and rays. We also learned about the organizational structure of non-fiction text in language arts.
The fall library enrichment program is in full swing! Again this week, students will show their progress toward reading all the books from the different sections of the library. Just like last week, students must show me their library form on Friday. Participation is required as this replaces the weekly reading log.
I am thrilled how our class has truly embraced the Denim Drive. Remember to clean out your closets and bring to school new and gently used denim jeans and jackets. What a wonderful way for us as a grade level to give back to our community.
From the Counselor...
Can you believe it? It is the first school day in October and time for our 2nd character word of the month! In October, our school will focus on EMPATHY. Empathy means that you stand in someone else's shoes. Empathy means that you think about how others feel instead of thinking about yourself. How does a friend feel when you say unkind words? How does your teacher feel when you talk too much in class? Think about the feelings of others before you do or say something and you will be demonstrating EMPATHY. In October, if your teacher sees you showing empathy to others, then you will get a sticker to wear all day so that other students will know that you demonstrated our character word of the month!
