It has been a fantastic first week of school. Getting to know my students, making each child feel comfortable, and helping students establish new friendships are my top priorities! Building classroom expectations and routines help ensure a smooth, successful year.
Arrivals: When students arrive at school, they can enter the building as early as 7:20 am. Morning work begins promptly at 7:20 am with announcements starting at 7:45 am. The tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m., and students must be present at this time. Any student arriving after 7:45 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy slip.
Dismissal: Discuss a consistent place for your child to meet you after dismissal. Thank you for having a plan in place.
Snack anyone? We will have snacks right after recess at 9:35 a.m. Please help your child choose a healthy snack to bring to class each day. We also welcome students to bring a water bottle. On days when we have inclement weather or the heat index is too high, we will have a break in our day for indoor recess. The safety of our children is foremost in our minds.
Paperwork: The beginning of every school year means lots of paperwork for teachers and parents. Please help me by completing all paperwork and returning them to school as soon as possible. I am not able to turn in any office papers until I have a class set so I would really appreciate your help in getting it all in this week. My desk and I thank you!
Wish List: Please feel free to take a posted item from our wish list wall located outside our classroom. Thank you to those who have already made a donation!
Prize Box: Students win table points for good behavior and following directions. I have a prize box that is empty! Please consider buying...seasonal items, crafts, mechanical pencils, journals, ect. Dollar store items are great. Thank you in advance.
Birthday Parties: If desired, parents are able to purchase frozen yogurt, frozen fruit bars or cookies through the school cafeteria for an entire class. Arrangements for birthday items should be made through the cafeteria prior to the occasion to ensure sufficient quantities are available. So we do not have hurt feelings, please do not distribute birthday invitations during school hours.
Parent Meeting: Back to School Night will be Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 pm This is a very important informational meeting for parents and for that reason we ask you to make arrangements for childcare. We look forward to seeing you there.
Multiplication Math Facts: Students should be able to recall all multiplication facts through 10 X 10 with instant recall. Mastery of these facts are essential as fact recall is a cornerstone of our curriculum! On the pre-test I have given in class, many students do not know their facts. Please work on this skill at home.
