Happy New Year! In 2016, we are looking forward to new learning discoveries and the start of a wonderful semester. We have so many interesting units of study coming up. I look forward to working with my students as we prepare for fifth grade.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: This is also a great time to re-fresh your child’s supply of glue sticks, markers, tape and sharpened pencils. Many students have misplaced their colored pencils and markers and most of them have used up the glue sticks and the eraser on their pencils! Please put your child's name on crayons and markers.
NIGHT WRITES: January Night Writes are due on January 25th. Please continue to encourage your child to put forth great effort in completing the entire writing process. Our goal is to produce life-long writers, and it is so rewarding to see the students grow as writers. For this month, students need to take an expository prompt through the full writing process. An editing and revising checklist is required for this composition. This checklist can be found in students' Night Write notebook.
STUFFED ANIMALS: Next week, students may bring one small stuffed animal to school to display on their desk.
CHARACTER: Our character word for January is SELF-DISCIPLINE! Self-discipline means that we do what has to be done--even when we don't feel like doing it. Doing homework, helping at home with chores, exercising even when it is cold outside--all of these things require self- discipline! CHARACTER COUNTS AT CANYON CREEK!!
REPORT CARDS: Report cards will be coming home next Tuesday. Please sign one copy and return to school in the brown envelope.
